The trio of Obinna Opara Basil, 32, Kalanwa Goodluck, 32, and Chimamkpa Eziria, 17, have been arrested for using the NYSC uniform to rob and kidnap unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspects were arrested by the Imo State police command after robbing one Maria Chijioke and all occupants of a Toyota Sienna car. One locally made pistol and one English pistol were recovered from them.

They confessed to have robbed and kidnapped unsuspecting road users along Port-Harcourt/Owerri road. .

According to them, they use NYSC uniforms to flag down drivers to a stop for assistance, after which they kidnap occupants of such vehicles for ransom.
