EFCC Speaks on Probe of Govs Amosun, Okorocha, Yari

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reacted to ‘plan’ to probe Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rochas Okorocha (Imo) and AbdulAziz Yari (Zamfara), once their immunity ends.

Tony Orilade, EFCC Head, Media and Publicity, in a statement Sunday night, said the claim was a figment of the imagination of the reporter.

Orilade noted that everything mentioned about the setting up of the teams to probe the governors was false.

He said: “Again, the story is not true, as the EFCC does not go after anybody, including ex-governors on speculative ground.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Commission only act after the investigators have done a thorough job on any individual or firm involved in corruption related cases.

“The Commission wants to advise our stakeholders, including our friends in the media to be circumspect and verify their stories before going to press.

“Members of the public are therefore advise to disregard the story as no team has been set up against any former governor.”

Federer Breezes Past Injured Isner; Wins Miami

37-year-old Roger Federer continues to add to his trophy collection after producing an emphatic display to defeat an injury-stricken John Isner 6-1, 6-4, in the final of the Miami Open.

Federer, who made his Miami debut back in 1999, overwhelmed a frustrated Isner throughout their latest clash on the tour. Forcing Isner to move out of his comfort zone by the baseline and towards the net.

A nightmare scenario for the American, who was hampered by a foot injury. Nevertheless, it was Federer’s dominant performance that highlighted the match as he hit 17 winners to seven unforced errors. Even more impressive was his ability to win 32 out of the 35 points behind his serve.

“To stand here (with the trophy) after so many years is absolutely incredible,” Federer said during the trophy ceremony.

“John is a great player, a great person. I’m so sorry for your foot, but I’m positive for you, it’s all good and you’ll be playing great tennis for the rest of the year.” He added.

Solskjaer Hits Back at LvG's 'Park the Bus' Claims

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at claims from former Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal that his team “park the bus and play on the counter attack".

The Dutchman’s words resonated with the team’s laboured 2-1 win against Watford on Sunday, where the winning goals scored by Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial came largely against the run of play.

“LVG is entitled to his opinion,” the United manager said. “We’ve been looking at games. Some games we’ve pressed really high and won the ball up there and dominated.

“He’s probably talking more about the PSG game, which was a game that we had to defend really well in the circumstances and counter attack.

“It’s about where you win the ball. You want to defend to win the ball to go forward. You have to win the ball to attack and for me there’s two ways.

“Can you attack quickly like we did today, why not? As long as your intention is, when you win the ball, to attack.”

Zidane : It's Hard to Motivate Real Madrid

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane admits it is hard to motivate his side after they needed a last minute goal from Karim Benzema to beat bottom side Huesca.

Benzema’s spectacular 89th-minute strike made it two wins from two since Zidane returned to the club earlier this month.

However, Real Madrid were far from their best at the Santiago Bernabeu against a side seven points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table with just five league wins this season.

"Obviously, we can play much better than we did today. But I'm happy for the victory and the efforts. Huesca deserved more than a defeat,” said Zidane.

"The changes? I tried to build the best possible team to win, and today it was important to make changes after the international break.

"Anyway, it's impossible to win a title nowadays with just 13 players in your squad. And to make it clear: I'm not trying to keep everybody happy.

"It's hard to motivate the team when you know you are not going to win any title this season.”

Salah : Fans Gave Me the Spurs Winner

Mohamed Salah jokingly staked claim to Liverpool's last-gasp winner which restored the Reds to the top of the Premier League on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp's men were made to sweat in a tough clash against Tottenham at Anfield, with the visitors hoping to reinforce their own chances of making the Champions League next term.

Ultimately though it was Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris who was at fault for an injury-time winner, as the Frenchman somehow contrived to spill Salah's shot onto the back of an unsuspecting Toby Alderweireld and into the net.

To all intents and purposes, the Belgian put through his own net - but that will not stop Mohammed Salah from claiming the vital goal as his own.

"I think the fans gave it to me! A goal is a goal," the Egypt striker joked to Sky Sports after the final whistle.

"The important thing was to get three points. I haven't scored for a couple of games but there are some players who have the same number of goals as me but are having the season of their lives."

🔥Mbappe Keeps PSG Winning

Kylian Mbappe scored for the seventh consecutive Ligue 1 game as a below-par Paris Saint-Germain beat Toulouse 1-0 at Stadium Municipal and extended their winning streak to eight league matches.

The World Cup winner controlled Thilo Kehrer's cross before firing home in the 74th minute of a game that offered few memorable moments and underlined the importance of the injured Neymar and Edinson Cavani to Thomas Tuchel's side.

PSG striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will struggle to shake the image of his first-half effort soaring over the top of an open net from his mind after he endured a difficult evening.

But Kylian Mbappe's strike ensured the champions restored their 20-point lead at the top of the table, although Tuchel will have been disappointed with the flat nature of his side's performance.

MLS : Ibrahimovic and Rooney Shine

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a pair of penalties to see LA Galaxy past Portland Timbers, while Wayne Rooney's incredible free-kick guided DC United to victory.

Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic converted two spot-kicks – including a Panenka – as the Galaxy defeated the Timbers 2-1 on Sunday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had not played since the club's opening match of the season on March 2 due to an Achilles injury, but the 37-year-old made a goalscoring return in Los Angeles.

Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, scored a sensational free-kick in DC United's 2-1 victory away to Orlando City.
